Momentous (monumental) Moment

I wanted to do something for Blog Happy day. It's sooo cheesy, but still has the feel good factor
I hope it triggers a happy memory or raises a smile.

Good Morning, I've been up since 8.30am and I am still in my dressing gown. Time races away once I sit at the computer. Today tho' if the predicted nice weather materialises I will have to take myself outdoors to enjoy it in one way or another. Taking the dog for a walk would be a good start, so I think I'll get dressed shortly and do that. I'm sure she'd like to be out doing something like this:

Time for bed said sleepyhead

I've been reading blogs all day

Yearning

The sound of the sea Calls out to me

Today Holly and I took flowers to the cemetery, my mother passed away in 2002, but if she had still been alive, today would have been her birthday. This old song by child star Neil Reid sums up the sentiment.
Also, may I say to those of you whose Mother's still share your life -Hold them dear and tell them how you feel about them often.

Often my blog friend Bushka expresses the wish for everyone that they have had at least one thing to smile about in the day.

Well my first smile came early today. I was out with the dog at about 9.00am on our usual potter through the park, when I saw two boys about 10years old throwing sticks up at a Horse Chestnut tree, obviously trying to dislodge its conkers.

There were none on the ground as the tree stands on the edge of the playground and it's windfalls are soon picked up and gone. By coincidence I had seen lots of conkers lying untouched at the foot of a tree in another part of the park. I was able to direct them to the spot, thus saving the first tree from damage and delighting the boys with their "find" This gave me my first smile of the day

The conkers were beauties, rather similar to the ones that I photographed a couple of years ago (fruit of the same tree)

The church was decorated for harvest festival, local school children made the banner. It looked lovely.

Today the village church held an open day. It was a rare opportunity to go up into the bell tower. The stone steps going up in a spiral had grooves worn into them from hundreds of years of footfall and I felt a bit claustrophobic climbing up them. I'm glad that I went up, the bell ringers gave an interesting talk and demonstration, I was surprised that it didn't sound too loud in ringing room (where the bell ringers stand) and the effort required to ring the bells is not as great as I thought either (I got a mini lesson and had a go).

Did anyone see Carol Vorderman on GMTV this morning? I'm wondering if it's just me that thought she looked like a stick of licorice with a lollipop sticking out of the top?

This is the first time I've seen Ms Vorderman on TV for a while, and it is rare that I can be bothered to criticise someone's attire (Like who am I to judge?) but on this occasion I just need to say "Carol, that silly neckline chinline, made your head look disembodied and solid black didn't seem like a suitable colour for a morning appearance - more suited to funerals and evenings perhaps?

Furthermore, I have no idea what she was talking about on there, because her outfit distracted me too much So if it was an interesting topic, can anyone fill me in on that too?

It's amazing the effect a bit of music and the rhythmic sound of waves can have. Ten minutes ago I felt alert and awake but after visiting a post from La Spice here I am yawning and feeling tired - I feel an early night coming on
